Ungewöhnliche Sehnervenbefunde bei Diabetes mellitus

Zusammenfassung

Über 9 Fälle von einfacher Opticusatrophie und 2 Fälle von Stauungspapille in Verbindung mit Diabetes mellitus wird berichtet. Erstere gehören in erster Linie komplizierten erblich begründeten Syndromen an, die sich hauptsächlich durch eine allgemeinneurologische Symptomatik auszeichnen. Dagegen machen sich bei den Stauungspapillen akzidentelle (cerebrale) Ursachen geltend. Noch eine praktische Erkenntnis: Einfache Opticusatrophie bei Kindern und Jugendlichen erweckt stets den Verdacht auf Diabetes mellitus-und auf Glaukom.

Summary

Report on 9 cases of simple optic atrophy and 2 cases of choked discs, combined with diabetes mellitus. The former belong to complicated syndroms of hereditary origin, the main symptoms being general neurological disturbances. The causes of choked discs are mainly accidental (cerebral). Yet another finding of practical importance: simple atrophy of the optic nerve in children and juveniles should always make one think of diabetes mellitus — and of glaucoma.

Résumé

Rapport sur 9 cas d’atrophie optique simple et 2 cas d’oedème papillaire, en combinaison avec diabète sucré. Les premiers sont dûs aux syndromes héréditaires, caractérisés surtout par des disordres neurologiques généraux. Les cas d’oedème papillaire ont des causes accidentelles cérébrales. Une constatation d’importance practique: l’atrophie simple du nerf optique chez les enfants et les adolescents éveille toujours le soupçon de diabète sucré — et aussi de glaucome.
