Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel wird die Entstehung der Matrixorganisation mit Hilfe der Transaktionskostentheorie zu erklären versucht. Zunächst werden die Charakteristika des Organisationsdesigns der Unternehmung beim Übergang von der funktionalen bzw. divisionalen Organisation zur Matrixorganisation analysiert. Anschließend werden im dritten Abschnitt die Koordinationseffizienzeffekte beim Übergang von der funktionalen zur Matrixorganisation, d.h. bei der Einfuhrung von horizontalen Koordinationsmechanismen (wie Liaisonstellen, Task Force, Team, Integrator1) untersucht. Abschließend wird ausgehend von den Forschungsergebnissen der Kontingenztheorie der Organisation aufgezeigt, unter welchen Umweltbedingungen die Matrixorganisation entsteht.
