Abstract
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) poses a widespread and serious international health problem that is not completely managed by the current vaccines due to issues of availability, affordability and their effectiveness in inducing the appropriate immune responses. This is especially true with respect to chronic carriers of HBV for whom a cellular immune response, not achieved with the current vaccines, is required.
