Coincidence Measurements in (e, 2e) Compton Scattering and Microcanonical Electronic Structures

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Chemistry ((LNC,volume 35))

Summary

Compton scattering phenomena (X-Ray, Gamma-Ray and electron scattering, positron annihilation…) are commonly admitted to give a direct information on the electronic momentum \( \rho \left( {\vec{p}} \right) \) of the target.

The Wigner’s function \( \rho \left( {\vec{r},\vec{p}} \right) \) is shown here to give a better physical insight into the description of scattering events. Some preliminary features are brought support this conclusion.
