Abstract

As a consequence of a classic case of serendipity in science a range of platinum coordination complexes were demonstrated to have potent antitumor action against Sarcoma 180 and Leukemia L1210 (Rosenberg et al., 1969; Rosenberg and van Camp, 1970), a viral-induced reticulum cell sarcoma in mice (Talley, 1970), the Dunning ascitic leukemia, Walker 256 carcinosarcoma (Kociba et al., 1970),and a DMBA-induced mammary carcinoma (Welsh, 1971) in rats.
