Transluminal Vascular Dilatation With a Modified Dilatation Catheter

  • Conference paper

Abstract

Studies of the transluminal treatment of arteries in cases of stenoses or occlusions by dilating the stenosis and recanalizing the occlusion with a catheter were first published by Dotter in 1964. Since then several methods of this kind of treatment have been described: Zeitler sometimes uses an angiography catheter (8F Teflon or the 6–8F bypass catheter). Van Andel’s modification of Dotter’s technique replaced the coaxial catheter by single catheters with different diameters. Griintzig developed the double-lumen catheter, and we have developed another type, the results of which are presented in Tables 1–5.
