Myocardial Failure

Part of the book series: International Boehringer Mannheim Symposia ((BOEHRINGER))

Abstract

In the late 19th century Münzinger (30), Bollinger (2) and Kelle (14) described diseases of the heart which obviously were not caused by valvular heart disease, by inflammation of the heart muscle or by coronary artery disease. Bridgen (4) apparently was the first in 1975, who used the term cardiomyopathy (CM) defining by this nomenclature especially those disorders of the heart which did not derive from coronary artery sclerosis.
