Abstract
One of the goals of the scientist who works with antibiotics is to evolve tailor-made molecules to combat infectious diseases. Thus far, this goal has not been advanced much beyond the stage of modifying some chemical groups in naturally occurring antibiotic molecules (Coghill et al., 1949). Another avenue that might lead to the same goal could be the screening of known chemicals for antimicrobial action.
