Pressure Regulators

Abstract

The pressure in gas cylinders varies with temperature and content. In order to maintain constant flow with changing supply pressure, the anaesthesia machine requires pressure regulation. Pressure regulators are valves controlled by diaphragms or pistons which reduce the high and variable storage pressure of a cylinder or other supply to a preset constant pressure suitable for a specific application. The delivery pressure of a regulator remains practically constant with varying inlet pressure within certain limits of flow. The delivery pressure is slightly affected by changes in inlet pressure in the event of a small difference between inlet pressure and delivery pressure.
