Abstract

Drugs commonly used for preoperative medication were studied in respect to their effects on respiration, arterial blood gases and airway-resistance in seven comparable groups each of 11 or 12 healthy patients. One day preoperatively 3 ml of a placebo (physiological NaCl-solution) or promethazine 0,5 mg/kg, meperidine 1,0 mg/kg, fentanyl 0,002 mg/kg, droperidol 0,1 mg/kg or thalamonal 0,004 ml/kg were administered intramuscularly.
