CO2 Laser Excisional Conization: Five Years’ Experience Treating Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia

Abstract

In the past decade, CO2 laser microsurgery has been tested as a new, effective modality for the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) [1–3]. Excisional cervical conization was the standard procedure in patients with CIN. It was suggested that by studying the margins of the cone specimen, one could predict with reasonable accuracy the presence or absence of residual disease in the uterus.
