Abstract
In this introductory chapter a number of basic concepts, which are needed in almost all of the following chapters, are presented. Among these concepts are, first of all, those of Boolean variables and Boolean functions of these variables. Next, axioms and further fundamental laws of Boolean algebra are discussed.
