Abstract
In teleost fishes, osmoregulation in freshwater (FW) and in sea water (SW) involves the active participation of several organs specialized in water and ion transport. In this context, a component of the excretory system, the urinary bladder, proved to be a convenient and valuable material to study, after Murdaugh et al. (1963) and Lahlou (1967) demonstrated that it modifies urine stored in it, and raised the question of its probable osmoregulatory role.
