Abstract

During the past few years, especially two facts have gained a central position both in the theoretical and political discussions on economic growth: firstly, the increasing pollution effects exerted by the emission of poisonous and waste materials and by energy release on the potentials of air and water, on the climate, the flora and fauna, and last but not least, on mankind; secondly, the ever-increasing exploitation of industrial raw materials despite the limitations — even on a worldwide scale — of such resources.
