Zusammenfassung
Frühgeborene und wachstumsverzögerte Neugeborene benötigen eine Versorgung durch darauf spezialisierte Kinderkrankenschwestern und -ärzte, auch wenn eine Intensivtherapie nicht oder anfangs noch nicht indiziert erscheint. Frühgeborene benötigen neben der Gabe von Sauerstoff v. a. Wärmetherapie sowie eine adäquate Flüssigkeitszufuhr in Kombination mit einer enteralen oder parenteralen Ernährung. Obschon diese Feststellungen simpel erscheinen mögen, wurde der tatsächliche diesbezügliche Bedarf wurde quantitativ und qualitativ erst in den vergangenen drei Jahrzehnten eingehender untersucht und erste Festlegungen abgeleitet. Die Berücksichtigung des aktuellen Wissensstandes ist für die Therapie von Früh- und Risikoneugeborenen potenziell von lebenslanger Bedeutung, da neue Erkenntnisse zeigen, dass sie in sensible Phasen früher biologischer Prägung fällt.
