Zusammenfassung

Als Budd-Chiari-Syndrom (BCS) wird eine Behinderung des lebervenösen Abstroms zwischen den kleinsten Lebervenen und der Grenze von V. cava inferior und rechtem Vorhof bezeichnet. Die Definition gilt unabhängig von der Ursache des Abflusshindernisses. Ausgeschlossen aus dieser Definition sind das sinusoidale Obstruktionssyndrom (synonym venookklusive Erkrankung der Leber) aufseiten der kleinsten Lebervenen sowie kardiale und perikardiale Erkrankungen (Janssen et al. 2003).
