Zusammenfassung

Mitte der siebziger Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts wurde in den Zellkernen der Leberzellen von Patienten mit chronischer Hepatitis B ein bis dahin unbekanntes Antigen, das Delta-Antigen entdeckt. Dieses gehörte zu einem zuvor unbekannten Virus, dem Hepatitis-Delta-Virus (HDV). Im Serum dieser Patienten konnte der entsprechende Antikörper nachgewiesen werden (Rizzetto et al. 1977).
