Abstract

This chapter provides the synthesis and chemical properties of porphyrins. The classification and nomenclature of porphyrins is also discussed. A study of porphyrins using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and UV–vis spectroscopy is given in this chapter.
