Abstract
The scope of this chapter includes all the epifascial veins of the superficial venous system as well as the anterior and posterior accessory saphenous veins which run beneath the saphenous fascia in their proximal section. Varicose veins are tortuous and dilated veins. According to the UIP definition, these are defined as varicose if they exceed 3 mm in diameter. Spider or thread veins are flat, intradermal and impalpable and are different terms for the same condition. Reticular veins have a larger calibre and a profile with an intradermal component. Healthy veins are also included in this section.
