Abstract
In the present book several combinatorial optimization techniques based on bio-inspired computing are used. Bio-inspired techniques involve a set of simple organisms which adhere to a set of specific rules and a method of iteratively applying these rules. Some forms of complex behavior arise after several generations of rule application. Complexity gets built upon complexity until the result is something complex and often completely different from what the original rules would be expected to produce [296].
