Zusammenfassung

Die häufigsten und zugleich am besten zu behandelnden Tumoren peripherer Nerven sind gutartiger Natur. Sie können an allen Lokalisationen auftreten. Es gibt zwar eine Reihe von Synonymen für (Neurilemmom, Neurinom), der Begriff „Schwannom“ beschreibt jedoch den Ursprung der Pathologie am besten und beugt Missverständnissen vor (z. B. sind die traumatisch entstandenen Neurome keine Neoplasien, was die sprachliche Nähe ggf. vermuten ließe).
