Abstract
REICs have played an important role in the institutionalisation of the Turkish real estate market. They have promoted legalisation of the real estate industry. The legal framework makes REICs more transparent by providing reliable and quality information. Furthermore, their structure brought international standards and professionalism to the broader real estate industry and fostered foreign investments in Turkey, especially on an institutional scale (Erol and Tırtıroglu 2008).
