Abstract
HDR prostate brachytherapy is undertaken using a transperineal transrectal ultrasound-guided technique under spinal or general anaesthetic. Afterloading applicators are placed peripherally with a smaller central contribution. Post-implant imaging may be with ultrasound, CT or MR which is used to define the CTV. Meticulous quality assurance of all stages is vital including reassessment of the implant before actual exposure.
