Abstract
Hindfoot pain can be caused by a variety of pathology. Most of these can be diagnosed and treated by means of endoscopy. A two-portal hindfoot approach with the patient in the prone position has demonstrated to offer excellent access to the flexor hallucis longus, posterior ankle compartment, os trigonum, and subtalar joint. By means of tendoscopy, pathology in the peroneal tendons, posterior tibial tendons, and Achilles tendons can be treated. Indications include diagnosis of a peroneal tendon length rupture, peroneal tendon adhesiolysis, groove deepening for recurrent peroneal tendon dislocation, posterior tibial synovectomy, and treatment of Achilles (para)tendinopathy. The history of the technique, indications, contraindications, and procedures are described. The various techniques are introduced.
