Abstract
Noninfectious arthritis is among the most common musculoskeletal problems affecting the elderly. The resulting loss of mobility and physical independence can be particularly devastating. The clinical and radiological presentation of late-onset arthritis may differ significantly from the early-onset form. Conversely, long-lasting arthritis which began several decades earlier may be associated with particular complications. The aim of this chapter is to present the most frequent forms of noninfectious arthritis of the elderly: rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, gout, and calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease.
