Abstract

Therefore, while anterior scoring can give good results, the occasional severe complications, and all the listed problems with discomfort and dressings, led the author to favor an alternative approach which means that the aesthetic outcome is better and complications are minimal and if they occur they are easy to correct. The author describes raising the anteriorly/distally based fascial flap for otoplasty. Patients do not need head bandages and can shower the day after surgery while not requiring attendance for dressings, and especially in females with long hair, there are no stigmata of surgery at all.
