Abstract
Otoplasty for the prominent ear is a procedure that has undergone a number of modifications since its first description in 1881. This chapter will summarize a number of techniques that have been described over the last 100 years as well as potential postoperative complications and how to avoid them. Long-term results and general philosophies that have lead to reliable results will also be explored. A thorough understanding of the general concepts of otoplasty as well as differences between these techniques can help one to counsel patients appropriately and achieve excellent, symmetric results.
