Zusammenfassung
Die Lern- und Leistungsmotivation ist zu einem gewichtigen Gebiet für viele Subdisziplinen der Psychologie und Pädagogik geworden, denn sie stellt eine wichtige Voraussetzung für die Leistungsfähigkeit des Menschen im Dienst einer gelungenen Anpassung und Entwicklung in vielen Lebensbereichen dar. Ihre Erforschung wird im vorliegenden Kapitel unter zwei Perspektiven beschrieben. Zum einen wird danach gefragt, wie sich die Lern- und Leistungsmotivation über die Lebensspanne verändert und durch welche Einflussfaktoren sie in eine bestimmte Richtung gelenkt wird („Entwicklung der Lern- und Leistungsmotivation“). Zum anderen interessiert, welchen Stellenwert die Lern- und Leistungsmotivation in der menschlichen Individualentwicklung einnimmt: Inwieweit kann sie zur Erklärung der Kompetenzentwicklung, aber auch der Persönlichkeitsentwicklung insgesamt herangezogen werden? Analysiert wird dabei insbesondere, welche Bedeutung die Lern- und Leistungsmotivation für den Lernerfolg und die individuelle Leistungsentwicklung hat („Motivation der Entwicklung“).
