Abstract

In order to cut down high complexity for Serially Concatenated Overlapped Code Multiplexing system (SC-OVCDM), this article put forward an improved SC-OVCDM system with constraint length 1. OVCDM code matrix is simplified into multiplexing matrix with one-column; corresponding, its decoding is simplified symbol-level soft demodulation instead of BCJR algorithm, so system complexity is greatly reduced. Therefore, the proposed system structure can realize greater spectral efficiency for low complexity. System performance need joint optimization. Numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the optimal new scheme. When spectral efficiency is 4 bit/s/Hz, it has gain of 0.4 dB in bit error ratio compared with SC-OVCDM. We constructed system with spectral efficiency 5.82 bit/s/Hz, which is approximately 1.9 dB away from Shannon limit at the BER level of 10−5.
