Abstract

A real-time markers tracking system based on digital signal processor (DSP) was designed for portable gait analysis in this paper. In this system, the three-dimensional coordinates of markers and its relative angles were calculated and displayed on the screen in real time. Firstly, DSP detected the infrared markers pasted on the subject from two cameras in real time, and then calculated the markers’ image mass centers by background subtraction. For each marker, we obtained its two mass centers with two cameras. Finally, DSP reconstructed each marker’s 3D coordinates based on binocular vision principle, and displayed its position information on the screen at the same time. Experimental results showed that our system could obtain real-time three-dimensional position information of subject for his gait analysis.
