Special studies form an important component of forest inventories and they may involve significant cost and time. Three topics of special studies are presented in detail as illustration including development of volume equations, functions for biomass estimation and assessment of leaf, fodder, fruit, seed and bark yield, etc. commonly referred to as non-timber-forest-produce (NTFP), also called Non-Wood- Forest-Products (NWFP).
