A View Through the VISOR Lens

This chapter analyses three case studies of digital business models through the VISOR framework. We pick these companies as they are in relatively mature industries (athletic shoes, car rental, and healthcare) and articulate how they have changed their business models by taking advantage of digital platforms in an evolving environment. The VISOR framework helps to systematically examine and assess the many facets of those digital models allowing better analysis and an articulated unified framework that managers from different functional areas can discuss with a common language whether they are from marketing, operations, technology, or finance. In general, the three cases illustrate how these companies have been innovative and capitalized on new technological developments:
