Abstract

This book contains the first two volumes of “New methods of celestial mechanics”. The third volume is included in the second book of the present edition. This major work of the remarkable French mathematician and physicist is published in the Russian language for the first time.

In “New methods of celestial mechanics”, H. Poincaré developed the theory of integral invariants, constructed the theory of asymptotical expansions, investigated periodic orbits, and brought a significant contribution to the solution of a number of other problems of applied mathematics, mechanics, and astronomy. This work, which has become a classic, has had a great influence on the development of the exact sciences, and even nowadays has not lost any of its value.
