Monitoring Spatial Change over Time

Summary

Monitoring change is essential for many practical applications of decentralized spatial computing, because the world around us is highly dynamic. The neighborhood- and location-based algorithms discussed in the previous two chapters do not consider change in the monitored environment. Nor do they account for change in the decentralized spatial information system monitoring that environment. Relaxing these assumptions, this chapter takes the final step in the foundations of decentralized spatial computing, exploring the design of decentralized spatiotemporal algorithms that can monitor spatial change over time.
