Zusammenfassung

Grundlegende Arbeiten zur IVM wurden bereits von Robert G. Edwards in den 1960er Jahren publiziert. Edwards et al. (1969) beschrieben erstmals die erfolgreiche Fertilisierung von Oozyten, die in vitro maturiert worden waren. Über die erste Schwangerschaft nach IVM berichteten allerdings erst Cha et al. (1991), die Oozyten aus exstirpierten Ovarien in vitro nachreiften.
