Abstract
The Hellenic Society of Biomedical Technology (ELEBIT) was created in 1976, and its aim is to promote professional excellence in Biomedical Engineering. Over its more than 30 years of activity, the Society has organized tens of International and National Conferences, Symposia, Seminars, and other scientific events. The Mediterranean Conference, MEDICON 89, held in Patras, is probably the most well-known. It will be repeated next year as MEDICON 2010, in Chalkidiki. ELEBIT is also sponsoring the series of the European Symposia on Bio-Medical Engineering (ESBME) held every two years in Greece and is supporting the Postgraduate program on BME held since 1989, at the University of Patras, in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens and 25 other European Universities.
