Abstract
The biomedical engineering (BME) education in Taiwan was provided for more than 36 years since the first undergraduate program established by Dr. Paul Han at Chung Yuan Christian University in 1972. To date, there are 18 universities offering BME programs with BS to Ph. D. degrees. Taiwanese Society of Biomedical Engineering (TSBME) was founded also by Dr. Paul Han on December 25, 1980, and was affiliated to IFMBE in July, 1985. The TSBME aims to promote biomedical engineering technologies and academic activities, and to activate BME industries for improving quality of healthcare in Taiwan.
