Zusammenfassung
Die Ernährung des Feten erfolgt intrauterin nur über die Mutter und ist daher während der Schwangerschaft besonders wichtig. Der Kalorienbedarf in der Schwangerschaft steigt von ca. 2200 kcal/Tag zu Beginn der Schwangerschaft auf ca. 2500 kcal/Tag im dritten Trimenon. Die Gewichtszunahme kann mit einer erhöhten Kalorienzufuhr von zusätzlich 200–300 kcal/Tag ab der 13. SSW erreicht werden. Dies entspricht z. B. einem Stück Vollkornbrot und einem Glas Milch. Die Anteile der Energiezufuhr sind wie folgt auf die Makronährstoffe verteilt: >50% als Kohlenhydrate, £30% Fett und 9–11% Protein (DGE 2008), wobei der Anteil an Proteinen ab dem 4. Monat um eine Portion gesteigert werden sollte. Ab Beginn der Schwangerschaft werden 1,5–2 l ungesüßte Getränke, vornehmlich Wasser, empfohlen (Jaquet 2011). Schwangere sollten Alkohol meiden. Ein negativer Einfluss von wenig Alkohol konnte nicht nachgewiesen werden (Henderson 2007). Bis zu 3 Tassen Kaffee pro Tag werden als unbedenklich angesehen (Kuczkowski 2009), hingegen wird von koffeinhaltigen Energiedrinks abgeraten (aid 2011).
