Zusammenfassung

Fehler in der perioperativen Infusions- und Volumentherapie führen allein in den USA zu geschätzten 15.000 Todesfällen pro Jahr (Arieff 1998). Ein verbessertes Verständnis pathophysiologischer Grundlagen hat in den vergangenen Jahren dazu geführt, dass die perioperative Infusionstherapie im Kindesalter sich stark gewandelt hat. Die traditionelle Verwendung hypotoner Infusionslösungen in der Kinderanästhesie ist mittlerweile obsolet. Handlungsempfehlungen des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitskreises Kinderanästhesie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin (DGAI) aus dem Jahr 2010 sowohl die perioperative Nüchternheitsgrenzen als auch die intraoperative Infusionstherapie betreffend sowie mittlerweile kommerziell erhältliche Vollelektrolytlösungen mit 1–2% Glukose werden helfen, die Volumensubstitution im Kindesalter einfacher und sicherer durchzuführen.
