Abstract

The ForCES (Forwarding and Control Element Separation) router is considered to be widely used in the Next-Generation Internet router area. As an important part of ForCES router, TML (Transport Mapping Layer) is responsible for transport of the PL (Protocol Layer) level messages and hides the specific transport media. And SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) is a new end-to-end transport protocol. This paper researches and implements specifically SCTP based TML on the basis of modular design of generic TML. Then we carry out a series of functional tests. It provides a practical basis to select the transport protocol for IETF ForCES TML.
