Abstract
According to the overall construction program of Compass system, China will build a regional Compass navigation system covering the Asia-Pacific region by 2012. Before the completion of global Compass navigation system by 2020, this regional Compass navigation system will provide positioning, navigation and timing services to users in the Asia-Pacific region together with GPS and GLONASS. The constellations of GPS, GLONASS and regional Compass navigation system are simulated respectively. The distribution of satellite visibility and DOP values are calculated in Asia-Pacific region under Compass, GPS, GLONASS and all possible combinations among them. The performance of Compass in Asia-Pacific region and its important coverage, as well as the improvements of satellite visibility and DOP values provided by Compass to GPS, GLONASS and GPS + GLONASS, are analyzed based on the simulation results.
