Forced Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence in Large Eddy Simulation of Compressible Fluid

Abstract

Large eddy simulation technique for studying forced compressible magnetohydrodynamic turbulence is suggested. In our work, this method is based a on solution of filtered MHD equations by finite-difference methods and on a linear representation of driving forces in the momentum conservation and the magnetic induction equations. The emphasis is made on important and so far uninvestigated questions about ability of the large eddy simulation method to reproduce Kolmogorov and Iroshnikov-Kraichnan scale-invariant spectra in compressible MHD flows.
