Zusammenfassung

Definitionsgemäß liegt eine Mikrozephalie vor, wenn der Kopfumfang (okzipitofrontale Zirkumferenz, OFC) mehr als 2 Standardabweichungen (SD) unter der Norm liegt. 2,5% der Normalbevölkerung weisen folglich eine Mikrozephalie meist ohne zusätzliche neurologische bzw. mentale Beeinträchtigungen auf.
