Climate Change, Human Security and Violent Conflict

Part of the book series: Hexagon Series on Human and Environmental Security and Peace ((HSHES,volume 8))

Abstract

Two key questions are central to this chapter. First, what are the major causal chains between climate change and violent conflicts in Nigeria? Second, what theories are helpful for the analysis of the links between climate change and violent conflicts in Nigeria? A preliminary review would quickly reveal that there is an extensive body of literature that addresses these questions but there is no clear or unequivocal answer to them.
