A Kind of High Reliability On-Board Computer

Abstract

Because of the special application environment and high reliability requirements of the on-board computers, this article presents a design of on-board computer based on ERC32 with high reliability. This article also addresses the conception of ‘Cumulative Single Event Upset’ as well as the corresponding strategies to diminish such errors. It puts forward a variety of coping strategies for single event upset effects in space; it describes the design of the storage modules which are hard to cosmic rays briefly. The design has characteristics of high reliability and high compatibility; some ideas in it have been used in some of our earlier on-board computer systems. The long-term on orbit working performance shows that these strategies are effective to mitigate the errors caused by radiation and to improve the reliability of the payload systems.
