Abstract

The development of atmospheric pollutants emission inventory is a critical step with regard to management of air quality at the regional scale. It involves the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) software with the development of specific methodology and customized tools. The quality of input databases and the time and space scales specify the inventory effectiveness. But quality is often related to a large number of data that classical methodologies can hardly resolve. A specific methodologywith integration step of different kinds of emission sources has been developed. The tools used are PostgreSQL1 as DataBase Management System (DBMS) whitch is the kernel of the software, the Geographic Information System used is GRASS2, finally the Graphical User Interface (GUI) is a web site using PHP within the PRADO3 framework. The inventory concerns a large range of pollutants and Total Suspended Particles.
