Abstract
Multivessel PCI is an inherently higher risk procedure than single-vessel PCI, be it a marker for poorer underlying patient health and/or the fact that there are more opportunities for complications from instrumentation. From a technical perspective, this is certainly true. When making a choice between coronary revascularization strategies, i.e., CABG or PCI, it is imperative to take into consideration both patient and procedural factors to determine the best course of action. Although guidelines and criteria exist, they are not meant to supercede physician judgment based upon a comprehensive evaluation.
