Quality Events Need Quality Briefings – Professional Communications Briefing as a Key Factor for Creating Successful Events

Abstract

Events1 are becoming more and more important – in tourism, and beyond. Events are an essential reason to travel and a pivotal criterion when it comes to selecting a holiday destination. Touristic destinations, in turn, use events increasingly often as an instrument of differentiation from their competitors, which is shown for example by the continuous growth of festival and musical productions in the recent years. Similarly, business trips are initiated by events like congresses and seminars. The hotel industry participates by offering accompanying overnight hospitality services, the conference hotel business more so by offering meeting rooms and related services which are provided by their banquet departments. Even cruise lines and theme park operators are placing more and more emphasis on events to fill their ever growing capacities.
