Equations of Continuum Thermodynamics

  • Alexander M. Puzrin

Before we move on to the constitutive modelling, there is an important issue to be considered. As we learned in Chapter 5, formulation of any boundary value problem in continuum mechanics is based on the following four components:
  • Motion (equilibrium);

  • Compatibility (geometry);

  • Constitutive relationships;

  • Initial and boundary conditions.
