Extended Shock-Tunnel Operation for Aeroballistics Free-Flight Testing

Introduction

The aim of this study is to calculate the aerodynamic coefficients from the measured motion of a free flying body in a shock tunnel. This technique was originally described by Igra and Takayama [1] and has been further developed at ISL’s Shock Tube Laboratory for measuring the free movement of a flying body in six degrees of freedom (6DoF), these are the three dimensions (x, y, z), the yaw, the pitch and the roll angles.
